RISE Chattanooga
RISE Chattanooga has been awarded a two-year Levitt BLOC Music Series grant of $30K in annual matching funds, for a total of $60K, to present a free outdoor music series in neighborhoods across the city in 2024 and 2025.
Standing for Building Layers Of Community, the Levitt BLOC Music Series activates different neighborhoods across a town or city by “layering” concerts in multiple public spaces. Each site of this pilot program will foster social cohesion and amplify community pride by featuring a diverse lineup ranging from acclaimed, emerging talent to seasoned, award-winning artists on the local, regional, and national circuits, ensuring access to high-caliber performances.

RISE strongly believes that it is our responsibility to showcase talent that not only reflects all of our city’s cultural landscape, but that is also accessible to all residents, regardless of income, race, ethnicity, or zip code.
It is extremely important to ensure diverse representation of artists, giving a voice to creatives who are marginalized. Of equal importance is providing access to their equitable programming by hosting events in communities that traditionally are overlooked as venues.
In 2017, RISE was honored to be the first black led nonprofit organization in the nation to be selected by The Levitt Foundation to host the Levitt AMP Music Series that took place within Chattanooga’s downtown MLK corridor. After the completion of our third year in a row programming the series, we detected a stronger need from our community to directly present the essence of the Levitt model into their neighborhoods.

We are pleased to announces that thanks to The Levitt Foundation and our community sponsors we are revamping our community music template to continue addressing our city’s deficits of free and diverse programming by curating a boutique styled, family friendly FREE music neighborhood block series will be presented directly into four distinct underserved neighborhoods and culminate with a citywide music performance in our downtown area.
Hosting the series in four neighborhoods offers our residents not only the opportunity to uplift their area with this musical spotlight, it allows outside residents to visit areas of the city that they may not normally frequent. This type of programming creates a deeper community cohesion and bolsters city pride.
